Paying online from Tunisia without a bank card: why Karta exists
2 min read
Steam, PlayStation, Free Fire and ChatGPT ask for an international bank card. Why that's a problem in Tunisia, and how Karta solves it with gift cards paid in dinars.

You want to buy a game on Steam, top up your diamonds on Free Fire or pay for a month of ChatGPT. You reach the payment page, and it asks for a Visa or Mastercard that works abroad. For many people in Tunisia, that's where the purchase ends.
Karta was born from this problem. Here is why it exists, and what we do about it.
Why it's so hard in Tunisia
The Tunisian dinar isn't convertible: you can't freely pay in euros or dollars from a Tunisian account. Cards that work abroad do exist, but they have yearly limits and aren't always easy to get.
And many players, often young, don't have a bank account at all. They pay with D17, in cash, or ask someone else.
So people find workarounds:
- they ask a friend or a cousin abroad to pay for them;
- they buy from a seller on Facebook or Instagram, with no clear price and no receipt;
- sometimes they even hand over their account password so someone can top it up for them.
These workarounds sometimes work. But they are slow, expensive, and risky for your account.
What Karta does
Karta sells official gift cards and top-ups: Riot Games, Garena, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, ChatGPT and more. You pay in dinars, we send you the code by email, and you use it yourself on the brand's official site.
- A price in dinars. Every card has its price in dinars, shown before you order.
- No bank card needed. Pay with D17, by transfer from any Tunisian bank, or in cash, in person in Monastir.
- Official codes. You use them yourself, without sharing your password.
- A real team. A person checks every payment, and we answer on WhatsApp 7 days a week.
How does a gift card work?
A gift card is a code. When you enter it on the official site, it adds credit to your account, just as if you had paid by card. On the PlayStation Store or Steam, the credit goes into your wallet. On Free Fire, the diamonds land straight in the game.
Only one thing needs care: the region. Each code works in one region. For example, there is no Tunisian PlayStation Store, and most accounts in Tunisia are set to France. The region is shown on each card's page. If you're not sure, message us on WhatsApp.
Our goal
We want digital things to be as easy to pay for in Tunisia as anywhere else. Today we start with games, consoles and a few apps like ChatGPT. We add cards based on what you ask for: if one is missing, tell us.
